Swiss private bankers Lombard Odier Darier Hentsch & Cie have chosen the MEDIAplus eLearning system from Editions ENI to train their co-workers all over the world in office applications. In this way, they are sure of providing for their wide ranging requirements and skills levels.
Founded in 1796, Lombard Odier Darier Hentsch & Cie is the oldest firm of private bankers in Geneva and one of the largest in Switzerland and in Europe.
With a network of 24 offices in 18 countries, they offer their private and institutional clients careful and comprehensive guidance in asset management, financial products and personalised services.
For Lombard Odier Darier Hentsch & Cie, dedicated as they are to excellence and committed to the constant improvement of their services, training is vital. At every level and in every domain, it has become essential to their operations.
Among the many training options on offer, the office software courses evolve continually. Having tried classroom teaching, like many other companies, Lombard Odier Darier Hentsch & Cie decided to adopt a new method for two reasons:
- precise and increasingly diverse training requirements and, in consequence, a small number of participants per class;
- the need for a worldwide offer, which can be administered easily from Geneva.
"We tested three e-learning products, including MEDIAplus eLearning from Editions ENI" explains Mouna Zreikat, the Genevan firm's IT training manager. "We chose MEDIAplus eLearning because of its incontestable added value: apart from its availability in several languages, the training takes place actually in the applications we use; there is no simulation, no multiple choice. MEDIAplus eLearning recognises all possible response paths: shortcut keys, scrolling menus, right-clicks? which leaves the learners free to work as best suits them," she elaborates.
The system implemented, with the approval of the IT department, allows learners to sign on via the Lombard Odier Darier Hentsch & Cie intranet. "People can choose to train from their own computer or from a resource centre. Each request for training is approved by management. MEDIAplus' flexibility means that we can propose training by theme, by level, or by job profile etc. This means that every one of our co-workers has access to a personal on-line training programme which is practically made to measure".
After the first months of use, Lombard Odier Darier Hentsch & Cie are positive about their training solution. "Our e-learners appreciate the independence and flexibility that MEDIAplus eLearning gives them," explains Mouna Zreikat.
"If I were to offer a piece of advice to a training manager thinking of setting up an e-learning system, it would be to propose targeted modules so that the offer corresponds as closely as possible to the staff's requirements, and to contact the learners from time to time; it helps sustain their motivation," she concludes.
