E-learning: 95% of users at the MAAF are satisfied

MAAF Insurance, the mutual insurance group, uses ENI's MEDIAplus eLearning system to train its employees in the use of office software applications. This arrangement has proved successful, as 95% of people trained are satisfied. MAAF Insurance explains why the reaction has been so positive.

With over 6600 employees and 570 branches all over France, the MAAF was understandably keen to set up a flexible and interactive training system, which could train large numbers of people whose initial abilities varied widely.  This is why, for training in office software, they chose the MEDIAplus eLearning solution from ENI, which sets itself apart from other systems by training in the real environment  of the software itself. "This approach to training was a key element in our decision," remarks the manager in charge of training at the MAAF.

Training takes place in a resource centre which is open all week on appointment. A timetable is drawn up with each learner and MAAF tutors follow their progress. "We have put together three types of programme: beginner, further skills and advanced skills, which we adapt on an individual basis to the needs of each person," explains the manager in charge of training. "At the end of the course, the learner takes an after-training assessment test and we analyse the results precisely to see which skills have been assimilated and which need further attention,' she adds.

The result has more than met expectations, with 95% of beneficiaries saying they are satisfied with their MEDIAplus eLearning programmes. "The learners appreciate being able to work at their own rhythm, in a calm environment and with the assistance of the tutorial team," specifies the training manager.

The resource centre is running at full capacity, with a record 98% use of its resources in May. The system we have implemented is keeping all its promises," she comments.

Communication campaigns are being prepared to inform more people about the e-learning programme.

Considering the success of their programme, the MAAF point to a certain number of rules that should inform the choice and the implementation of any e-learning project:
- the people who require training should be relatively autonomous and able to organise their time
- management should be involved, ensuring that learners have time to train and taking an interest in their progress
- to benefit fully from the training, learners need to put their new skills into practice rapidly in the workplace
- an active tutorial team is indispensible for learner support
