Deleting a picture’s background

This function enables you to delete a part or all of a picture’s background.

Select the picture for which you want to delete the background.

In the Format tab, go to Adjust group and click the Remove Background button.

The new Background Removal tab is selected. Selection lines determine the part of the picture to keep. The background part to delete is in purple.

If you want to edit which parts of the picture you want to keep, drag the selection handles.

If any parts of the picture’s background are not to be removed, click Mark Areas to Keep from the Refine group and then draw lines on the background areas to keep.

On the other hand, to delete additional background areas from those marked automatically, click Mark Areas to Remove from the Refine group.

The images/i72.png sign shows that the area has been marked to be kept whereas the images/ic010R.png sign shows areas marked to be removed.

To delete the marking of areas to keep or to remove, click the Delete Mark button from the Refine group and depending on the mark to remove, click the images/i72.png or images/ic010R.png on the corresponding line.

Confirm your changes by clicking Keep Changes from the Close group.

To add changes to the deletion of a picture’s background, select the corresponding picture click Remove Background from the Format tab and then edit as you want.

To cancel the deletion of a picture’s background, select the corresponding picture, click Remove Background from the Format tab and then click Discard All Changes from the Close group.
