To apply one of the colours in the list, click the background colour to apply to the selected paragraph. The colours in the Theme Colors box are linked to the theme applied to the document (cf. Styles and Styles set chapter). If you choose one of the Theme Color, the paragraph’s background colour will change if you apply a new theme to the document.

To apply a colour that is not in the list, click More Colors. Then select the colour you want from either the Standard or Custom tabs. Then click OK.

The colour you have chosen will now appear in the Recent Colors group in the list on the images/13iac31.png tool button.
To clear the background colour from a paragraph or paragraphs, select them, open the list on the images/13iac31.png tool button, then click No Color.
