Select the object.
In the Format tab, go to the Shape Styles group and click the Shape Fill button.
Click the fill colour to apply. The colours in the Theme Colors pane are linked to the document theme (cf. Themes chapter). If you choose one of these colours, it will change according to the theme applied to your document.
You have more options by clicking More Fill Colors (which opens the Colors dialogue box).
Objects can be filled with a picture, gradient, texture or pattern.
In the Format tab, go to the Shape Styles group and click the Shape Fill tool button.
To use a picture as fill for a shape or to add texture to a shape, click Picture option, then, in the Insert Pictures window that appears, find the picture you want to apply by searching your computer or the web. Once you have selected the picture, click Insert.
To apply a gradient, point to the Gradient option and click one of the options. Alternatively, click More Gradients to open the Format Shape pane, then enable the Gradient fill in the Fill category ( icon).
Then proceed as you would for a gradient fill in characters (cf. Applying a gradient to characters in the Characters chapter).
To apply a texture, point to the Texture option then click one of the preset textures from the list. To select a different texture, click More Textures then in the Fill ...
