Changing the layout of a diagram

Changing the shape of the whole diagram

Click the shape then click the Design tab on the SmartArt Tools contextual tab.

To change the diagram colours, click the Change Colors button in the SmartArt Styles group then click a colour to apply.

The colour variations are linked to the document theme.

To change the style of the diagram shapes, click the More button images/13iac33.png on the SmartArt Styles list, then click a style to apply.

To switch between 3-D and 2-D style, under SmartArt Tools, on the Format tab, in the Shapes group, click Edit in 2-D. The 3-D SmartArt Style reappears when you click Edit in 2-D again.

This option is not available for all diagram types.

Click outside the diagram when you have finished formatting it.

Formatting several diagram items

With this action you can format shapes, text boxes and/or diagram connectors.

Click in the diagram and select the item(s) you want to format. You can use the [Ctrl] key to select several items.

Click the Format tab.

To change the style of the selected items, click the More button images/13iac33.png at the bottom of the scrolling list in the Shape Styles group, then click a style to apply it.

To change the fill colour of the selected items (except connectors), click the Shape Fill button in the Shape Styles group, then click the colour you want. You can also fill the shapes or text boxes using a picture, gradient or texture by clicking Picture, Gradient or Texture from the Shape Fill list.

To change the outline colour of the selected items, click the Shape Outline ...
