Creating a form

This chapter discusses the basic aspects of creating a form.

A form is a document containing permanent text and space for variable data. Here is an example:


Display the Developer tab: go to File tab, click Options, then click the Customize Ribbon category from the Word Options dialogue box.

Check that the Main Tabs option is selected in the Customize the Ribbon list, check the Developer option located in the zone below the list and then click OK.

Create or modify a template.

Enter the text.

At each place where you wish to enter variable data, insert a form field from the Controls group in the Developer tab (cf. below).

When you have completed the form, protect it (cf. the heading Protecting a form further on in this chapter) and save it.

You can hide the Developer tab by unchecking the Developer option in the Word Options dialogue box (Customize Ribbon category).
