There are a number of predefined equations available in Word that you can modify after inserting them into a document.
Place the insertion point at the place where you want to insert the equation.
From the Insert tab, go to the Symbols group and open the Equation drop-down list.
Select the equation you want to insert.
If the equation is inserted into an empty paragraph, the equation is automatically centred on the page. If the paragraph already contains text, the equation is inserted at the insertion point.
Note: in the ribbon, a new tab, Design, appears under the contextual tool Equation Tools.
If required, edit the equation.
