Applying a custom glow effect

If none of the preset glow effects proposed by Word is suitable, you can create your own glow effect.

Select the relevant characters.

In the Home tab, click the Text Effects and Typography tool images/13iac16.png, point to Glow, then click Glow Options.

You can also click the Text Effects button in the Font dialogue box (Home tab - Font group - images/13i10.png button), the images/13i50.png tool and then the Glow option.

The Format Text Effects pane appears to the right of the window. The Glow options appear.

If you want to create the custom glow from a preset glow, select it from the relevant list.

The options that follow display the settings for the preset variation that you have just selected. You are now going to change these settings.

Select the glow colour from the Color list.

To change the brightness, drag the Size cursor or enter a value in the Size field.

To change the level of light, drag the Transparency cursor or enter a value in the Transparency field.

The light attributes apply to the selected text as you define them.
