Modifying paragraph spacing

You can make your text appear less crowded without having to insert blank lines, by leaving space before and/or after paragraphs.

Select the relevant paragraphs or place the insertion point in the paragraph.

From the Home tab, go to the Paragraph group and click the images/13i10.png button.

Click the Indents and Spacing tab.

Under Spacing, define the amount of space to be left Before and/or After the paragraph.

Click OK.

The default unit of measurement in this type of area is the point. You can also use another unit as long as you specify the value: cm for centimetres, mm for millimetres, li for lines, " for inches.

To change the line spacing between all paragraphs of the document as well as the line spacing between their lines, click anywhere in the document, then in the Design tab, click the Paragraph Spacing button in the Document Formatting group and click the required option. Pointing to an option displays the values for the space before, space after and line spacing in a ScreenTip.

With the keyboard, use the [Ctrl] 0 (zero on the alphanumeric keyboard) shortcut to add a space matching the height of a line (12 pt) above each paragraph selected.
